The World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) has released a current list of teams who will compete at the WFDF 2018 World Ultimate Club Championships (WUCC2018), to be held 14-21 July, 2018 in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA. This list includes 128 teams from 40 countries -- 48 in the Mixed Division, 40 in the Women’s Division and 40 in the Men’s Division, with nearly 4,000 athletes expected to compete.

WUCC is the premier club championships event for Ultimate. The event is held every four years and is comprised of city club teams who are endorsed by their National Federations. The 2018 WUCC will be comprised of Men’s, Women’s and Mixed divisions.  The Masters Divisions for the World Ultimate Club Championships will held separately for the first time, from 29 July to 4 August 2018, in Winnepeg, Canada.

“We are excited to be hosting our largest premier event next year, the WFDF World Ultimate Club Championships, in the US,” said Robert “Nob” Rauch, WFDF President.  “We will be commemorating the 50th anniversary of the sport, which was developed at Columbia High School in Maplewood, NY in 1968.  Moreover, with so much of WFDF’s growth in National Federations coming from Eastern Europe, Latin America, Africa, and Asia, it is gratifying to see so many new countries travelling to North America for the first time.”

WUCC2018 will have a gender balance with an equal number of teams in the Men’s and Women’s Divisions.

More than 250 teams expressed an interest in participating during the pre-event registration phase. The bid allocation list was first published in September, giving WFDF member National Federations the opportunity to allocate the bids to the best teams from their country. With just a few more National Championships to be held, the team list is now almost complete. This list will remain provisional until a final list of teams is published with the schedule prior to WUCC next year.

The World Ultimate Club Championships, first held in 1989, was last hosted in 2014 in Lecco, Italy, featuring 3,800 athletes on 156 teams from 39 countries.  In 2014, there were 48 men’s teams, 32 women’s teams, 48 mixed teams, and 28 masters divisions teams.
